Dr. Hamed Aboutorab serves as a Lecturer in the School of Business at UNSW Canberra, part of the University of New South Wales. His research focuses on the application of artificial intelligence within supply chain management, risk analysis, and organisational resilience. Aboutorab develops AI-driven models to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks in modern supply chains, thereby enhancing operational agility and stability. He integrates data analytics, machine learning, and decision-support systems to support efficiency, cost savings, and adaptability in complex environments. His fields of research encompass supply chains, logistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, cybersecurity, and privacy. Aboutorab commenced his PhD at the School of Business, UNSW Canberra, in 2020, with research centered on artificial intelligence in risk management. He completed his doctoral thesis in 2023, titled "A Reinforcement Learning-based Framework for Proactive Disruption Risk Identification in Supply Chains." He teaches courses such as ZBUS3102 Project Management and ZBUS8302 Logistics Management.
Aboutorab has published extensively in prominent journals, contributing to advancements in AI applications for logistics and risk management. Key publications include "Adaptive identification of supply chain disruptions through reinforcement learning" (2024, Expert Systems with Applications, co-authored with Hussain OK, Saberi M, Hussain FK, Prior D), "A reinforcement learning-based framework for disruption risk identification in supply chains" (2022, Future Generation Computer Systems, co-authored with Hussain OK, Saberi M, Hussain FK), and "Reinforcement Learning-Based News Recommendation System" (2023, IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, co-authored with Hussain OK, Saberi M, Hussain FK).
