Haydar Majeed serves as Professor of Practice and Academic Director of the Cybersecurity Engineering program in the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering at the University of San Diego, where he also holds the position of Program Director. An alumnus of USD's MS in Cyber Security Engineering program (class of 2019), he earned his BS from Chapman University, MS in Cyber Security Engineering from the University of San Diego, and is a PhD candidate in Computer Science at Colorado Technical University. With over 15 years of professional experience, Majeed is an internationally recognized expert in cybersecurity and emerging technologies, specializing in blockchain and artificial intelligence. He maintains active profiles on academic platforms including Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and Academia.
Majeed's career began as an award-winning intelligence contractor for the U.S. military, where he supported critical overseas missions and received commendations at the highest levels at an early age. He transitioned to the private sector, co-founding several venture-backed technology startups and achieving multiple successful exits. Currently, he serves as Chief Technology Officer for a high-growth startup while concurrently pursuing his PhD. Majeed advises several successful startups in the cybersecurity, AI, and blockchain industries. He holds professional certifications including Certified Chief Information Security Officer (C|CISO), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Lead Auditor for ISO/IEC standards. Recognized as a thought leader, he speaks regularly at global conferences on leveraging emerging technologies to fortify defenses against sophisticated cyber threats. At USD, Majeed assumed leadership of the MS in Cyber Security Engineering program following the retirement of the previous Program Director, Chuck Bane, and contributes to the Center for Cyber Security Engineering and Technology.
