Dr. Helen Gabathuler serves as Associate Clinical Professor (Teaching Only) in the Health Sciences division of Warwick Medical School at the University of Warwick. In her capacity as Academic Lead for General Practice, she manages general practice placements across Phase II and Phase III of the undergraduate medical curriculum. Her duties encompass organizing training for community GP tutors, recruiting new practices when required, ensuring quality standards in community and in-house teaching, conducting WMS quality assurance visits to GP practices, and training external GP tutors for the school. She delivers teaching on the Phase III GP block at both the university and her clinical practice, and supports students with queries on GP placements, research ideas in General Practice or Medical Education, and career exploration in general practice.
Gabathuler earned her Bachelor of Medicine (BM) from the University of Southampton and holds professional qualifications including MRCP, MRCGP, DRCOG, and FHEA. As a salaried General Practitioner at Rother House Surgery in Coventry, she works two sessions per week with special interests in Rheumatology and General Medicine. Her fields of research include curriculum and pedagogy, education systems, and specialist studies in education. She co-authored the publication 'Piloting a longitudinal virtual patient in medical education, simulating general practice' in Medical Teacher (2021) with T.D. MacLaine, C. Juengst, D. Harris, and S. Davies. Additionally, she contributes as a trustee to the WPH Healthcare Charity and is an observer in the RCGP Midland Faculty.
