Hilary Thomson, also known as Hilary Robin Thomson, completed her academic studies in the Department of Zoology at the University of Otago. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology with first class honours, graduating in 2016. In 2017, she obtained her Master of Science in Zoology from the same institution. Her MSc thesis, titled 'Consistency of behaviours over time and context in zebrafish,' examined the repeatability of personality traits in zebrafish across different contexts and time periods. Supervised by Associate Professor Sheri Johnson, the thesis has been cited 7 times and contributed to understanding behavioural consistency in model organisms used in research.
During her time as a postgraduate student in the Johnson Lab, Hilary Thomson assisted in related research, including carrying out behavioural assays for studies on carryover effects of larval environments on individual variation in fish. She is currently employed as a Business Analyst (Student Systems) in the Information Technology Services Division at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand.
