About Hiroshi

Hiroshi Kageyama is a Professor in the Graduate School of Engineering at Kyoto University. He earned his undergraduate degree from the Faculty of Science at Kyoto University, followed by a Master of Science and a Doctor of Science, both from the Graduate School of Science at the same institution. His academic career includes a position as Research Associate at the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Tokyo, from 1998 to 2003. He then served as Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Science at Kyoto University from 2003 to 2009 before becoming Professor in the Graduate School of Engineering in 2010. He also holds a concurrent affiliation as Adjunct Professor at the Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) at Kyoto University. Kageyama’s research centers on solid state chemistry, with interests including quantum spin systems, hydrides, and mixed-anion compounds. In 2018, he received the Inoue Prize for Science. He maintains professional memberships in organizations such as the Chemical Society of Japan, the Physical Society of Japan, the American Chemical Society, the Ceramic Society of Japan, and the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy.
