About Hossein

Hossein Jadvar, MD, PhD, MPH, MBA, MSL, is a tenured Professor of Radiology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, holding joint appointments as Professor of Urology and Radiation Oncology in the Keck School of Medicine and Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. He is a full member of the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. His extensive academic background includes a BS in chemical engineering from Iowa State University (1982), MS in biomedical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1984), MS in computer engineering (1986) and PhD in bioengineering (1988) from the University of Michigan, MD from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine (1993), MPH from Harvard University (2005), Executive MBA from USC Marshall School of Business (2007), and MSL from USC Gould School of Law (2024). Following an internship in internal medicine at the University of California San Francisco (1993-1994), he completed residencies in diagnostic radiology (1994-1996) and nuclear medicine (1996-1998) at Stanford University, and a clinical fellowship in nuclear oncology and positron emission tomography at Harvard Medical School Joint Program in Nuclear Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital (1998-1999).

Dr. Jadvar's research specializes in translational molecular imaging, with current emphasis on prostate cancer, theranostics, and radiopharmaceutical therapy. He has authored or co-authored 267 peer-reviewed journal articles (Google Scholar h-index 53), 4 books, 41 book chapters, and holds 9 U.S. and European patents. Key publications include 'The Final Frontier: Toward Transformative Insights into the Pathophysiologic Adaptations to Microgravity with Molecular Imaging' (Journal of Nuclear Medicine, 2026), 'Therapy strategies to defeat prostate cancer heterogeneity' (Seminars in Nuclear Medicine, 2026), and 'Clinical Trials in Cancer Theranostics with Potential Near-Term Impact on Clinical Practice' (British Journal of Radiology, 2025). His scholarly impact is evident in over 10,000 citations and more than 350 invited lectures worldwide. Dr. Jadvar has received prestigious awards such as the American College of Nuclear Medicine Lifetime Achievement Award (2023), Massachusetts General Hospital Distinguished Alumnus Award (2024), USC Department of Radiology Outstanding Teacher of the Year (2023-2024), and Academy for Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research Distinguished Investigator Award (2014). He is past president of the American College of Nuclear Medicine and Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, chairs the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Advisory Committee on Medical Uses of Isotopes (2024-2027), serves as a Director of the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, and holds associate editor positions at the Journal of Nuclear Medicine, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, and others.
