About Hui

Professor Hui Tan is Professor in Strategy and International Business in the Department of Strategy, International Business and Entrepreneurship at Royal Holloway Business School, University of London. He earned a BA in Economics from Renmin University of China (1988) and a PhD in Management from the University of Bath (2000). Tan commenced his academic career in the early 1990s as a lecturer in international business at Renmin University of China, Beijing. After completing his doctorate, he served as a lecturer at the Centre for International Business, University of Leeds, before joining Royal Holloway in 2006 as Reader in Strategy, progressing to Professor.

His research specializations encompass foreign direct investment into and from China, strategies of multinational enterprises from emerging markets, knowledge transfer and organizational learning, mergers and acquisitions, trust, cross-cultural management, and innovation. Tan's scholarly contributions have been published in prestigious journals such as Journal of World Business, British Journal of Management, Management International Review, International Business Review, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, and Technovation.
