Ilija Vickovich serves as Director of Student and Academic Services at Macquarie Law School, alongside roles as Academic Casual and Honorary Lecturer. He is Unit Convenor and Lecturer for core units including Contracts (LAWS104 in the LLB program and LAWS8030 in the JD program), Evidence (LAWS399 LLB and LAWS814 JD), and Law Journals (LAWS533 LLB). Previously, he convened LAWS550 Litigation from 2009 to 2015. Vickovich has held academic appointments as Lead Lecturer in Business Law at the Sydney campus of Curtin University and as a sessional Lecturer in law units for business school programs at Curtin University, La Trobe University, and Central Queensland University. Prior to academia, he practiced law for over 20 years in litigation and commercial matters, followed by work in legal publishing and business writing. He earned a BA (Hons) and LLB from the University of Sydney, and an LLM (Research) from Macquarie University, with his research examining the judicial resolution of Australian church disputes. Vickovich has supervised undergraduate theses on topics in Civil Justice, Contract Law and Theory, Commercial Law, Consumer and Competition Law, Corporations Law, and Labour Law.
His research interests include Evidence, Civil Justice, Civil Procedure, Contract Law and Theory, Law of Work, Labour Law, Commercial Law, Consumer Law, Competition Law, Corporations Law, Equity and Trusts, Dispute Resolution, Legal History, Law of Church and State, Law and Society, Legal Education, and Legal Publishing. From 2012 to 2016, he was Editor of the Macquarie Law Journal.
