Ingrid Roding serves as the Marketing and Communications Manager at the Otago University Students' Association (OUSA), a key role in supporting student life at the University of Otago. She manages communications for major events such as the annual Toga Party, art week celebrations, Blues & Golds Awards, and initiatives like care packages delivered to students isolating due to COVID-19. Her leadership ensures effective promotion of student sports, culture, and arts successes. Holding an MBA with Honours from the University of Otago, Roding brings substantial business expertise to her position. She began her professional journey in New Zealand by accepting a senior management position at a leading non-profit organization in Dunedin.
Prior to relocating to New Zealand, Roding was CEO of a prominent South African marketing agency for nearly ten years. In this capacity, she specialized in providing marketing and communications solutions, strategy development, and implementation for top-tier South African and international clients across diverse sectors, including fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), hospitality, lifestyle, technology, health, sport, entertainment, renewable energy, and government, serving both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) markets. Her career also includes senior positions at multinational companies such as Sony Music International, where she procured a global record deal for the South African band Seether, leading to a year working in New York; Primedia Broadcasting South Africa in commercial radio and news; and MSC Cruises International. Currently, she chairs the Swim Dunedin Board, applying her governance and management skills to advance swimming coaching in the region. Roding's core competencies lie in general management, governance, marketing, strategy, and planning, with extensive experience in arts/entertainment, government/public sector, media/advertising/communications, sports/recreation, and food & beverage industries. A keen sportsperson with a passion for community investment, she is recognized for her business acumen, energetic approach, and commitment to leadership and mentoring. She plans to pursue a PhD focused on strategy and leadership in high-performance environments.
