About Jackie

Jacqueline J. Peila-Shuster, Ph.D., LPC, NCC (she/her/hers), is an Associate Professor in the School of Education's Counseling and Career Development program at Colorado State University, College of Health and Human Sciences. She serves as Coordinator for the M.A. in Counseling and Career Development and the Career Counseling specialization. Peila-Shuster earned her Ph.D. in Education and Human Resource Studies, with a focus on counselor education and career counseling, from Colorado State University in 2011. Her research specializations encompass career development across the lifespan, gender issues in career development, and career counselor education. As a licensed professional counselor and nationally certified counselor, she contributes significantly to training the next generation of counselors through coursework, internships, and fieldwork in the program.

Peila-Shuster has been recognized with several honors, including the 2024 CSU Career Center Career Impact Award, the 2023 Outstanding Teacher Award from the School of Education at Colorado State University, and the Outstanding Adviser award in 2017-2018. She is a co-author on a highly cited study emphasizing the importance of multicultural competence among counselors.
