About Jacqueline

Dr Jacqueline Epps is an Associate Professor in the School of Rural Medicine at the University of New England. Born and raised in Armidale, she completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales and undertook Junior Medical Officer training in Orange, New South Wales, as part of the NSW Rural Resident Medical Officer Cadet program. She continued her training as an RACGP Rural Stream Registrar in Central West New South Wales and practised as a general practitioner and Visiting Medical Officer in the region. In 2010, she returned to Armidale and joined the University of New England as Senior Lecturer in General Practice in the School of Rural Medicine, where she has taught in Years 1 and 3 of the Joint Medical Program Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine.

With more than 20 years of experience as a rural clinician and GP, Associate Professor Epps has provided practice and hospital-based medical care while supervising and teaching medical students and recently graduated doctors. Her academic interests centre on rural health, rural medical education, and One Health approaches. She serves as a Chief Investigator on a multimillion-dollar national research project focused on Long COVID care and has contributed to research on infectious diseases and zoonoses, including publications addressing climate-related disease threats. She holds the position of Associate Professor in Rural Medicine at the University of New England.
