Jaime Doumas is an Associate Lecturer and Bachelor of Health Science (Health & Lifestyle) Course Coordinator at the National Centre for Naturopathic Medicine within the Faculty of Health at Southern Cross University. She also holds positions as Teaching Associate and Academic Project Coordinator in the Faculty of Health. Doumas earned a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy (BHealthSc) and a Master of Teaching (MTeach). An experienced educator and qualified naturopath with a strong background in health sciences, clinical practice, and higher education, she joined Southern Cross University in 2022, contributing to teaching, course development, and research. Previously, she served as national Program Manager for Nutritional Medicine at Torrens University and Endeavour College.
In her teaching roles, Doumas acts as Unit Assessor and Tutor in Clinical Studies units for the Bachelor of Health Science (Health & Lifestyle) and Master of Naturopathic Medicine degrees. She has developed assessment frameworks, student engagement strategies, and course design elements, and led intensive workshops in physical examination skills for naturopathy students. Her pedagogical focus emphasizes evidence-based education and innovative approaches in health sciences. Doumas's research specializations include supporting students' integration into clinical practice, the use of Generative AI in education and clinical practice, and teaching and learning strategies for naturopathic assessment and clinical decision making. She co-authored the 2025 SSRN preprint "Documenting Health Students' Strategies and Needs to Prepare for Clinical Practice," an exploratory study on student preparation for clinical settings. Additionally, she presented a poster at the HERDSA 2025 conference titled "From Classroom to Clinic: Enhancing Naturopathic Education Through Evidence-Based Pedagogies." Passionate about clinical education, Doumas is dedicated to empowering students as confident, evidence-based practitioners and strengthening naturopathic education through research.
