Dr. Jake Madden is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at Southern Cross University. He holds a Doctor of Education from the Australian Catholic University. With over three decades of experience as an educational leader across Australian and international schools, Madden has been instrumental in driving sustainable school improvement and fostering teacher capacity through innovative educational practices. Currently serving as Group Head of Schools for the Aoba Education Group in Tokyo, he has implemented transformative strategies that enhance educational outcomes and community engagement. His career includes principalships in multiple schools and adjunct appointments at Southern Cross University since at least 2013.
A strong advocate for the teacher-as-researcher model, Jake Madden has published extensively on leadership, school reform, professional learning, and teaching improvement. His key books include Creating the Outstanding School, co-authored with David E. Lynch and Tina Doe, and The Teaching Improvement Agenda: What Matters and How Teaching Excellence Is Achieved (2024), co-authored with David Lynch, Angela Smith, David Turner, and others.
