James S. Choi is a Professor of Computer Science at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). He earned both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California. Dr. Choi joined the Department of Computer Science at CSUF in 1999, advancing to full Professor. He has held prominent leadership positions, including serving as Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Program Coordinator for the online Master of Science in Software Engineering. Currently, he is the MSE Program Coordinator and Advisor for the Accelerated Master's in Software Engineering program through CSUF University Extension, where he actively teaches courses such as Modern Software Management.
Dr. Choi's research specializations and academic interests include software engineering, reverse software engineering, process modeling, configuration management, secure software development, software maintenance, modeling, and simulation. He is the author of numerous research papers and presentations in these areas. His research has received funding from industry leaders including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Corporation, Naval Ocean Systems Center, AT&T, Pacific Bell, and TRW Defense Systems Group. Dr. Choi's dedication to teaching earned him the 2022 Faculty Recognition for Teaching award at CSUF. His contributions to graduate programs in Computer Science and Software Engineering have a notable impact on preparing students for industry careers.
