Student Amanda Umphrey earned first place for the logo at San Diego's 4th Annual Jewish Food Festival in Poway through a competitive submission from his class. Additional successes include student designs selected for the Balboa Park Centennial postcard, posters for two on-campus events, the identity and logo for Art=Opportunity nonprofit, and the winning poster for CSUSM's 21st Annual International Fair, created and voted on by his graphic design class. These achievements highlight his influence in fostering creative talent and practical skills. In 2011, Miller was inducted as an honorary member of the Golden Key International Honour Society for his service as adjunct faculty in Visual and Performing Arts, nominated by student officer Eric Lopez during a November 19 ceremony where he received a certificate and pin.
