About Jane

Jane Ladlow is a Research Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cambridge. She holds the qualifications MA VetMB CertVR CertSAS DipECVS MRCVS and is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons, awarded in 2002. Her main area of clinical research focuses on brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome in dogs, including the objective assessment of airway function and the development of effective surgical strategies.

Professor Ladlow co-founded Granta Veterinary Specialists in Linton, Cambridgeshire, in 2024 while maintaining her involvement in BOAS research at Cambridge. She has supervised PhD students and trained residents in small animal surgery. She received the BSAVA Simon Award in 2019 for outstanding contributions to veterinary surgery and the FECAVA Didier-Noël Carlotti Award in 2023 for her work raising awareness of health issues in brachycephalic dogs. Key publications include her 2018 article on brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome and contributions to a 2026 PLOS One study assessing BOAS prevalence and risk factors across fourteen dog breeds.
