Mrs. Shapiro was a Columbia graduate with a specialty in Russian Soviet history and politics. She provided me an interest and framework for analyzing Soviet/Russian events from 1967 to the present a valuable tool in one engaged in public work for many years. She was young and so was I so her lectures were current, open not lifted from old files. She was interested in her work and not tied to the negative suspicious outlook on the area. Memorable .
