Dr. Janet Floyd serves as Associate Professor of Business Administration in the School of Business & Aviation at Fairmont State University, contributing to the Business & Economics faculty with her extensive experience in management and marketing education. She commenced her tenure at Fairmont State as an adjunct faculty member in August 1997, advancing to Instructor of Business Administration in August 2014, Assistant Professor in August 2017, and Associate Professor in August 2020. Prior to her full-time appointment, Floyd taught as an adjunct instructor at West Virginia University from August 2002 through May 2012. Her professional career includes roles at Mylan Pharmaceuticals from 1997 to 2002 and at The Greenbrier from 1994 to 1996. Floyd earned a Bachelor of Science in Operations Management from West Virginia University in May 1993, a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from West Virginia University in August 1997, and a Doctor of Business Administration from Liberty University. Throughout her career, she has instructed courses including Organizational Behavior, Principles of Management, Consumer Behavior, Employee Relations, Business Math, Introduction to Business, Administrative Office Management, and Corporate Communications.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Floyd holds the position of Faculty Athletic Representative at Fairmont State University, where she liaises between faculty and athletics, promoting student-athletes' academic, athletic, and personal development. She previously coached tennis for the men's and women's programs from 2006 to 2013, serving as head women's tennis coach and associate men's coach from 2008 to 2013, during which her women's team achieved All-Academic Team honors in 2011-12 with a 3.70 GPA. Floyd has served on numerous committees, including the Academic Appeals Board, Textbook Selection Committee, Faculty Senate, School of Business Strategic Plan, United Way Campaign, and task forces for the School of Business Honor Code and Supply Management Certification. She co-coordinated the BSBA Program from August 2018 to August 2019 and advises over 30 students. Her accolades include the Outstanding Adjunct Award for 2011-2012, Fairmont State University's Adjunct Professor of the Year in 2012, and School of Business Adjunct Professor of the Year in 2012 and 2013. Under her mentorship, students secured the Bloomberg Businessweek Writing Award four times from 2015 to 2018.
