Jason Beach, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction within the College of Education and Human Sciences at Tennessee Technological University. He earned his Ph.D. in Instructional Technology with a cognate in andragogy from the University of Tennessee. As Director of the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning, Director of the Jeffers Learning Resources Center, and Coordinator of the VISION Research Lab, Dr. Beach focuses on technology integration to enhance classroom content delivery. He teaches courses related to instructional technologies, instructional design, and research methodologies, and coordinates virtual reality content development to improve teacher pedagogy. His leadership extends to serving as Innovation Chair for Tennessee Tech’s strategic planning initiative, Chair of the AI Taskforce, and member of the university’s COVID-19 task force and Scholarly Works Database Working Group.
Dr. Beach’s research interests include augmented reality, virtual reality, metaverse, assistive technologies, adult education, STEM, TPACK, enhancing human performance, and K-12 computer science education. His publications demonstrate impact in educational technology, including “Preservice Teachers' Perception of Virtual Reality in Educator Preparation” (EdMedia, 2021), “The Integration of Information Communication Technology in Education: A Review of Policies and Practices in Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe” (2022), “Making the Leap from Traditional to Virtual: Resources and Strategies for Teaching Middle Level Learners Online” (2018), “Reliability and Validity of the Hexoskin Telemetry Shirt” (2017), “Social Interaction Development Through Immersive Virtual Environments” (2014), “3D Printing: Tangible Applications in the K-12 Environment” (2015), and “Teachers’ Experiences and Perspectives on the Integration of Technology” (2014). Through these contributions and directorial roles, Dr. Beach influences innovative teaching practices and advances technology-enhanced learning environments at Tennessee Technological University.
