Dr. Jayanta Chattopadhyay serves as the Principal, Professor, and Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Microbiology at Kusum Devi Sunderlal Dugar Jain Dental College and Hospital in Kolkata. He obtained his BDS from the University of Calcutta in 1998 and MDS from the same university in 2003. With almost two decades of clinical practice, his expertise encompasses routine dentistry, dental implants, dental lasers, lasers-aided root canals, fixed prosthesis, oral and maxillofacial traumas, fractured teeth and jaws, oral premalignant and malignant lesions, head and neck biopsies, and surgical dentistry. He is attached as a consultant at Fortis Medical Centre, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Narayana Super Speciality Hospitals, Apollo Clinic, and Shree Jain Hospital and Research Centre. He also acts as Visiting Consultant Dental Surgeon at Centenary Hospital Kolkata Port Trust for the last 12 years and is the Founder Director of Genesis Dental Care in Howrah.
Dr. Chattopadhyay has extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across institutions in Kanpur, Lucknow, Patna, Jamshedpur, Haldia, and Kolkata in West Bengal. He served as Postgraduate Guide and Head of Department in the Department of Maxillofacial Pathology and Microbiology at Jamshedpur for five years and has acted as an examiner for universities in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, and Orissa. He was Dean of Kusum Devi Sunderlal Dugar Jain Dental College and Hospital from 2017 to 2022. His research contributions include multiple articles in national and international journals, such as "Assessment of Oral Health-related Quality of Life among Adults in Kolkata, West Bengal, India" (Journal of Pharmaceutical Research International, 2024), "Age Estimation by Cemetal Annulations (A Short Study)" (Journal of Advanced Zoology, 2024), "Insight into the molecular pathogenesis of odontogenic tumours" (International Journal of Health Sciences, 2023), and "Ameloglyphics: A multidimensional tool in human identification: A short study" (International Journal of Health Sciences, 2022). He is Editor in Chief of the indexed journal “Maven” and a member of the Board of Studies of West Bengal University of Health Sciences. Dr. Chattopadhyay received the Charaka Award from IDA HO.
