About Jeffrey

Jeffrey A. Bohler is the Chair of the Department of Information Systems and Professor in the College of Business at Auburn University at Montgomery, positions he has held since August 2024 and following a promotion to full Professor with tenure announced in April. He joined Auburn University at Montgomery in August 2023 as Associate Professor. Prior to this, Bohler served in various academic roles at Troy University from 2008 to 2023, progressing from adjunct professor to associate professor. His extensive professional background includes a 23-year career in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Commander in 2008, and earlier service as Petty Officer 2nd Class. Bohler holds a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Auburn University (2009), with a dissertation titled "Education Technology Impact on Department of Defense Financial Manager Continuing Education Programs"; an MMOAS in Military Operational Art and Science from Air University (2000); and a B.S. in Information and Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology (1985).

Bohler's research specializes in data analytics, information systems curricula, decision support systems, educational technologies, social media trust, predictive analytics, machine learning applications, and phishing detection. He has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including "Evaluation of Information System Curricula" in the Journal of Information Systems Education (2020, with B. Larson, T. Peachey, R. F. Shehane); "Innovative Pedagogical Strategies of Streaming, Just-in-Time Teaching, and Scaffolding: A Case Study of Using Videos to Add Business Analytics Instruction Across a Curriculum" in the Journal of Information Technology Education: Innovations in Practice (2021, with B. Larson, A. Krishnamoorthy); "Can Social Media Make Us More Trusting?" in the Journal of Electronic Commerce in Organizations (2022, with J. R. Drake, R. R. Paul, E. L. Kisling); and "A case study for exploring project management methodologies" in the Journal of Business Cases and Applications (2023, with J. A. Russomano, S. Sherman, B. Larson, H. Mills). At Auburn University at Montgomery, he teaches courses such as INFO 3070 (Management Systems, Technology, and Data), INFO 5880 (Data Analytics for Competitive Advantage), and QMTD 6740 (Data Analysis for Managers). Bohler received the ISI Reviewer Bronze badge in 2023.
