Jenna Holt serves as Associate Professor and Chair of the Psychology Department at Mary Baldwin University, a position she has held within the School of Science since joining the faculty in 2011. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from James Madison University. She subsequently obtained her Master of Science in Counseling from Radford University and her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical and School Psychology from James Madison University. As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Holt actively maintains her clinical expertise through psychological assessments and outpatient counseling services provided to clients in the surrounding community. In her role at Mary Baldwin University, she functions as the department's clinical psychologist, bringing practical experience into her academic responsibilities.
Dr. Holt teaches a variety of undergraduate courses in psychology, including introductory psychology, Techniques of Counseling and Psychotherapy, Abnormal Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, and Assessment and Measurement. Her research interests center on ecopsychology, defined as the study of the connections and relationships between people and the natural world; this subject formed the basis of her dissertation and represents an area for her ongoing and planned future investigations. Additionally, Dr. Holt is designated as a university media expert on several key topics, encompassing abuse of children, mental illness among college students, teen violence, and issues related to children, families, health, education, and social culture. Through her leadership as department chair and contributions to curriculum development and faculty initiatives, such as global education programs and new degree offerings in education, she supports the academic mission of Mary Baldwin University. Her professional background and licensure enable her to integrate clinical practice with teaching and research, fostering student understanding of applied psychology.
