Jennifer Meadows is an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Tennessee Technological University in the College of Education and Human Sciences, where she focuses on elementary education, mathematics, and STEM. As Associate Director of the Millard Oakley STEM Center, she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics and STEM education. She directs the Research Experiences for STEM Educators and Teachers (RESET) program under the Army Education Outreach Program, providing professional development and summer research experiences with Army scientists and engineers for educators nationwide. Meadows coordinates STEM outreach initiatives at the center, including STEM Fab Fridays and STEM Safari Saturdays, promoting informal STEM learning opportunities.
Her research interests include teaching and learning in higher education, teacher evaluation and observation for instructional improvement, STEM education with emphasis on curriculum design and MakerSpaces, formal and informal STEM education, preservice teacher education, and integrating real-world STEM research into classrooms. Key publications include “Fab Fridays: Fostering elementary teacher candidate preparation through informal STEM events” (2020), “Unpacking Elementary Mathematics edTPA” (2019), “Teacher evaluation and improving mathematics instruction: A change model for implementing productive feedback” (2017), “More than accountability: Understanding teacher perceptions of evaluation, observation, and feedback in grades 3-8 mathematics instruction” (2015), and “Money Maker $pace: Fostering Financial Awareness and Student Engagement through Community Outreach.” Meadows has received Tennessee Tech’s Scholar-Mentor Award (2019-2020) and Award for Excellence in Creative Inquiry Instruction (2017). She serves as vice president of the Tennessee Mathematics Teachers Association and contributes to university governance through the Academic Council, Faculty Senate, and University Assembly.
