Jenny Miller is the Kaitohutohu | Registered Counsellor at Te Huka Mātauraka, the Māori Centre at the University of Otago. A member of Te Ātiawa, she provides counselling and support services tailored to the needs of Māori students, contributing to their overall wellbeing and success in a university setting.
Miller's academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Physical Education earned from the University of Otago in the 1990s, a Diploma of Herbal Medicine completed in Auckland, and a Diploma of Applied Addictions Counselling (Te Taketake) obtained in 2018. Her career history features experience as a personal trainer, a decade of service at Araiteuru Whare Hauora, and roles in Youth Addictions and Mental Health. In her counselling practice, she adopts a trauma-informed approach, drawing on kaupapa Māori models including Te Whare Tapa Whā and Pōwhiri Poutama, as well as somatic and mindfulness techniques.
