Jenny Officer is the Senior Business Analyst (Student Systems) at the University of Otago's Information Technology Services (ITS). In this capacity, she works within the Student Management Value Stream, focusing on the analysis and support of enterprise software systems such as SITS: eVision, which handles critical student administration functions including enrolment, course changes, scholarships, and research management. Her role contributes to ensuring these systems meet the needs of university staff and students by identifying business requirements and facilitating improvements in system functionality and user experience.
In August 2019, Jenny Officer was part of the dedicated team undertaking a major two-and-a-half-year enhancement project for the eVision student management system, which had been fully implemented in 2015. Led by Business Systems senior manager Patricia McNaughton, the project rolled out more than 50 enhancements based on feedback from staff, students, and the Student System Review (SSR). Key improvements included automating scholarship applications and assessments, enabling online course changes to reduce manual staff interventions, streamlining postgraduate enrolments, integrating with the StarRez accommodation system to eliminate data duplication, and enhancing research management and student progress monitoring tools. These changes aimed to make processes more efficient, user-friendly, and less reliant on manual input, ultimately benefiting the university's operational workflows and student services.
