Jere Fox served as Associate Professor of Law and Management in the Tom & Vi Zapara School of Business at La Sierra University. A La Sierra alumnus, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree there in 1973, followed by a Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1977, and a Master of Arts in religion from La Sierra University in 2007. Prior to his full-time academic career, Fox practiced law for over thirty years, specializing in civil litigation related to business, real estate, and probate matters. As a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law, his practice also encompassed wills, trusts, and estate planning. During his legal career, he served as an adjunct faculty member at La Sierra University and at two area law schools.
In 2011, Fox joined La Sierra University as a full-time faculty member, later serving as Associate Dean of the Zapara School of Business. He taught courses such as Religion, Values, and Social Responsibility in Business and led service-learning classes that integrated classroom learning with community service. His students raised significant funds, including over $4,500 for local after-school programs, fulfilled pledges to elementary schools, and helped earn national recognition for the university's community engagement efforts. Fox contributed to the Enactus team, supporting projects like the Jamaica eLibrary that received national attention. His research interests encompassed contemporary Constitutional issues related to religious freedom and the right of privacy, as well as church history issues pertaining to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, including a project on the disposition of Ellen G. White’s estate. Fox was honored with the Verla Rae Kwiram Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award in 2016 and the Distinguished Teaching Award. He participated actively in university governance, chairing the Faculty Senate during the 2019-20 academic year and advocating for due process and participatory governance. Fox retired from La Sierra University following the 2021-22 academic year.
