Jeremy Wendt, Ed.D., serves as Professor of Educational Technology and Chair of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at Tennessee Technological University. He holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from the University of Tennessee (2012), an M.A. in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Technological University (2005), and a B.S. in Secondary Education from Tennessee Technological University (2003). Since 2005, Dr. Wendt has taught courses including FOED 2011 Introduction to Teaching and Technology, FOED 3010 Integrating Instructional Technology into the Classroom, CUED 6430 Production of Instructional Materials, CUED 6460 Constructivist Strategies for Technology Integration, and CUED 7510 Instructional Design. As department chair, he oversees programs serving over 1,000 students from undergraduate through doctoral levels, offering diverse licensure and non-licensure options. He works closely with local school systems, serving as Instructional Technology Liaison for the Tennessee Board of Regents Teacher Quality Initiative, technical consultant for edTPA and Tk20 systems, and developer of the College of Education's crisis management plan.
Dr. Wendt's research specializations include educational technology, 3D printing, immersive reality, virtual reality, technology readiness, and recruiting and training math and science teachers for high-needs inner-city schools. He collaborates internationally with colleagues in Prague, Taiwan, and Finland, and participates in an NSF grant for teacher recruitment and training. Key publications encompass 'Preservice Teacher Perceptions of Using 360° Cameras and Virtual Reality for Education Preparation' (2023), 'Strategies for Engaging and Motivating the Middle Level Virtual Learner' (2018), 'Social Interaction Development Through Immersive Virtual Environments' (2014), '3D Printing: Tangible Applications in the K-12 Environment' (2015), and 'Teachers’ Experiences and Perspectives on the Integration of Technology' (2014). Awards include Swivl Pioneer Higher Education Educator (2017), Google Certified Educator (2017), and Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Educational Technologies in Taiwan. Dr. Wendt represents Tennessee Tech nationally and internationally through grant work, publications, and research, and serves on the statewide Educator Preparation Advisory Council and university Teacher Education Committee.
