Dr. Jerry Parker serves as Vice President and Dean of Students at Drake University. He joined the university in December 2014 and was appointed to the dean of students role in May 2017, later advancing to his current vice president position. Parker holds a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. Prior to Drake, he held student affairs positions at Texas State University, St. Mary’s University, Iowa Wesleyan College, Texas A&M University, and Des Moines University. He has taught courses in leadership development, civic engagement, and American government.
At Drake, Parker has received the Division of Student Life’s Outstanding Innovation Award and Outstanding Achievement Award. He serves as giving voice chair on the Iowa Campus Compact’s executive board. His work emphasizes co-curricular engagement to support student success academically, personally, and professionally while promoting an inclusive campus environment.
