James E. Polli, PhD, is Professor and Ralph F. Shangraw/Noxell Endowed Chair in Industrial Pharmacy and Pharmaceutics in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. He holds a PhD in Pharmaceutics from the University of Michigan and a BS in Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. Polli serves as Co-Director of the University of Maryland Center of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation (M-CERSI), Co-Director of the Center for Research on Complex Generics (CRCG), and Director of the online Master of Science in Regulatory Science program. He has advised 25 PhD graduates and served as an editor of Pharmaceutical Research, the flagship journal of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, for 12 years. His career includes significant contributions to pharmaceutical education and research leadership at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Polli's research specializations encompass oral drug absorption, maximizing oral bioavailability through formulation and chemical approaches, and developing public quality standards for oral dosage forms.
