Rate My Professor Jing Lu

Dr. Jing Lu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Khalifa University. He holds a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Oklahoma (2008), an M.Eng. in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Calgary (2005), an M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from Virginia Tech University (1998), an M.Sc. in Petroleum Geology from Chengdu University of Technology (1994), and a B.Sc. in Petroleum Geology from Southwest Petroleum University (1991). Prior to his academic appointments, Dr. Lu worked as a Petroleum Consultant and Reservoir Analyst with KADE Technologies Inc. and United Oil and Gas Consulting Ltd. in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and as an assistant geologist with Huachuan Oil and Natural Gas Exploration and Development Company in Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Dr. Lu’s research focuses on productivity analysis and pressure transient analysis, with particular emphasis on the performance of unconventional wells. He also investigates pressure behavior in low permeability reservoirs, multi-layered reservoirs, and naturally fractured reservoirs. He has published numerous articles in refereed journals and conference proceedings, authored three books, and serves as a reviewer for several international journals in the area of energy resources. Dr. Lu is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics. He teaches courses including Well Testing Analysis, Natural Gas Engineering, and Rock Properties.
