Joanne Fitzgibbons serves as Senior Administrator within the Student Administration team at the University of Otago's Student Experience directorate in the Academic Division. Based in Dunedin at the St David II Building, 75 St David Street, she supports various student services including admissions, course management, examinations, research degrees, records, scholarships, prizes and awards, and academic integrity.

Joanne has demonstrated dedication to student support through her involvement in the University Examinations team, which handled the complex logistics of semester two examinations for nearly 14,000 students in 2018. Her commitment to inclusivity was recognized in 2023 when she received the Disability Information and Support Appreciation Award at the 13th annual ceremony held at the Staff Club. The award acknowledged her sustained efforts in the alternative arrangements service, aiding disabled students to succeed and promoting an inclusive environment at the university.
