Jônatas Santos Abrahão is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the Instituto de Ciências Biológicas of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). He leads the Giant Viruses Study Group, established in 2011, which focuses on the discovery, characterization, and evolutionary biology of giant viruses, particularly those infecting amoebae, through exploration of Brazilian biomes.
