Jonathan Black-Branch served as Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba from July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2021. He held the position of Professor and Chair in International Law at the University of Manitoba.
Black-Branch is a barrister called to the Bar in England and Wales in 1995 and in Manitoba. He previously taught at the University of Oxford as a Research Fellow at Wolfson College and remains a Fellow of Greyfriars Hall. He has also taught at Canadian and American universities. His academic work includes serving as Chair of the International Law Association Committee on Nuclear Weapons, Non-Proliferation and Contemporary International Law. He has edited and contributed to volumes in the series Nuclear Non-Proliferation in International Law, including Volume IV published in 2019.
