Jordan Joe is a Clinical Physiologist at the WellSleep Sleep Investigation Centre, located within the Department of Medicine at the University of Otago, Wellington, as part of the Division of Health Sciences. In this capacity, he works alongside a team of clinical physiologists, senior staff, and specialist consultants including Professor Alister Neill, Clinical Director and Professor of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, to deliver diagnostic services for sleep disorders. The centre conducts overnight sleep studies, or polysomnography, for various sleep conditions and provides Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and AutoPAP therapy management for patients with sleep apnoea. WellSleep serves referrals from specialist physicians, surgeons, hospitals, and private patients, and is an accredited sleep laboratory affiliated with Southern Cross Health Society. The centre also pursues research interests in the efficacy of CPAP therapies and commercial sleep aid products.
Prior to or alongside his professional role, Jordan Joe completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science with Honours at the University of Otago in 2021. His honours thesis, supervised by Andrew Bahn, examined 'Smad7: a master regulator of β-cell plasticity in T2DM,' contributing to understanding pancreatic β-cell function in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Joe has been associated with sleep-related professional events, appearing in programmes for the Sleep in Aotearoa (SIA) conferences in 2024 and 2025.
