Rate My Professor Jorie Knook

Jorie Knook is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Land Management and Systems at Lincoln University in New Zealand. She holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh Business School, awarded in 2019. Her academic appointments at Lincoln University include membership on the Faculty Postgraduate Committee since February 2023, and she previously served as Chair of SAGE from March 2021 to March 2022. Knook is a social scientist whose research centres on agriculture, forestry, and environmental change, with a particular emphasis on landowner behaviour regarding the adoption of environmentally friendly farming practices, climate change mitigation, water quality improvements, agroforestry, and farmer wellbeing. She employs both quantitative and qualitative methods to examine practice adoption, shifts in beliefs and values, and the motivations and context-dependent factors influencing decision-making among landowners.

Knook has contributed to studies on mental health education for tertiary students in agricultural fields and the evaluation of participatory extension programmes focused on climate-friendly farming. Her work aims to enhance understanding of behavioural change in rural contexts.
