Rate My Professor Joseph Carpini

Dr Joseph Carpini is a Senior Lecturer in the Management and Organisations department at the University of Western Australia Business School. He completed his Ph.D. in Management & Organisations at the University of Western Australia in 2018, with a thesis examining contextual factors that shape individual work performance. Prior to this, he earned an M.Sc. in Industrial & Organisational Psychology from Saint Mary’s University in 2013 and an M.Sc. in Business Administration from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University in 2012, following a B.A. in Psychology from Concordia University in 2011.

Dr Carpini’s academic interests centre on individual work performance, mental health in the workplace, and diversity. He serves as a unit coordinator for courses including Strategic Human Resource Management and Managing Jobs, Performance, and Wellbeing. His career includes appointments as Senior Lecturer and Casual Teaching roles at the University of Western Australia. He has received awards such as the Early Career Research Award from the Business School in 2021, a Fellowship to the Higher Education Academy in 2021, the Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award in 2020, the Students' Choice Award in 2020, and the University Teaching Excellence Award in 2020. Key research outputs include publications on topics such as patient gender influences on responses to suicide signs among pharmacists in 2026, suicidal thoughts among construction workers in 2026, and career success for overqualified employees in 2024. Dr Carpini has contributed to projects on mental health in construction and surgical team performance, with a total of 46 research outputs including articles, book chapters, and editorials. He has also been involved in media contributions on workplace mental health and psychologically safe environments.
