Associate Professor Josephine Previte is a Senior Lecturer in the Marketing Discipline of the School of Business at the University of Queensland's UQ Business School. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from The University of Queensland. Her academic contributions emphasize innovative approaches in marketing research and education.
Dr Josephine Previte's research centers on the use of qualitative and digital methodologies in marketing and health service research, examining gender and embodiment issues in social marketing practice and the impact of social technologies on consumer behaviour. She has contributed to social marketing projects on alcohol consumption, breastfeeding, breastscreening, blood donation, and new technology applications for social marketing services. Her scholarly output includes 93 works from 1999 to 2025, comprising 47 journal articles, 4 books, 29 conference publications, and 13 book chapters. Key publications feature 'Design for service inclusion: creating inclusive service systems by 2050' (2018), 'Q methodology and rural research' (2007), 'The value of health and wellbeing: an empirical model of value creation in social marketing' (2013), 'Social marketing’s consumer myopia: applying a behavioural ecological model to address wicked problems' (2016), 'Women’s bodies as sites of control: inadvertent stigma and exclusion in social marketing' (2013), and the book 'Consumer behaviour: buying, having, being' (4th edition, 2019). These works have influenced discussions in social marketing, consumer behaviour, and transformative service research. Previte delivers research findings through invited speaking engagements and serves as a media expert on behaviour change campaigns, consumer behaviour, gendered consumption, and social marketing. She also supervises postgraduate research in these domains.
