Rate My Professor Joshua Long

Dr. Joshua Long serves as Professor of Economics and Business in the College of Business at Indiana Institute of Technology. He earned a Ph.D. from Capella University, an M.A. from Walsh College, an M.B.A. from Indiana Institute of Technology, a B.A. from Wadhams Hall Seminary-College, and an A.A. from Christendom College. Dr. Long previously held the position of Associate Professor of Economics from 2013 to 2022. In addition to his teaching role, he has held several leadership appointments, including Chair of the Department of Quantitative Business Programs from 2024 to 2026, Chair of Graduate Studies in the College of Business from 2018 to 2021, Acting and Interim Director of the Ph.D. in Global Leadership program, faculty lead for the Department of Accounting, Financial Services, and Economics, and Interim Dean of the College of Business in 2017. His professional and academic interests include money and banking, real estate, resource markets, and economics education, with a focus on maximizing student learning through project-based approaches involving community, local government, and not-for-profit partners.

Dr. Long is a member of the American Economic Association, Western Economic Association International, Financial Executives International, and Sigma Beta Delta. He has delivered numerous presentations on topics such as economics education, active learning strategies, digital badges, monetary policy, and the use of simulations in the classroom at conferences including those hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, IACBE, and the Economic Outlook Symposium at the University of Detroit-Mercy. He serves as Stream Editor for the International Journal on Innovations in Online Education and has contributed to editorial roles and board service, including with the American Red Cross of Northeastern Indiana and the American Radio Relay League.
