Dr. K. Aparna Rao serves as Professor and Deputy Director at RV Institute of Management, Bengaluru, a position she assumed in September 2025. Possessing over 26 years of distinguished experience in higher education leadership, she has previously held roles as Director and Principal at International Academy of Management & Entrepreneurship from January 2024 to August 2025, Director and Principal at Mewa Vanguard Business School from July 2022 to December 2024, Founding Member, Professor, and Director at GIBS B-School from May 2015 to June 2022, and Professor and Principal at The Oxford College of Business Management from September 2012 to March 2015. Earlier in her career, from 1998 to 2012, she worked as a Professor at institutions including Surana College, The Oxford College of Business Management, MVJ College of Business Management, and Hasnath College. Her academic qualifications comprise a Ph.D. in Management from Kuvempu University, M.Phil. in Management from MS University in 2001, MBA in HR from Osmania University in 1998, MBA in Marketing from Osmania University in 1996, Executive Management Programme in Entrepreneurship Development from IIT Delhi, and a pursuing MA in Psychology from IGNOU.
Dr. K. Aparna Rao's academic interests and research specializations include Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship. She has authored and co-authored books on HRM and Personnel Management, such as 'Personnel Management and HRM' published by Himalaya Publishers, 'Human Resource Management' for Bangalore University, 'Human Resource Development' in 2015, 'Personnel Management' in 2013, and 'Fundamentals of HRM' in 2013. Her scholarly output encompasses over 20 publications in Scopus-indexed and UGC Care-listed journals, including 'Employee retention-a real time challenges in global work environment' (2012), 'Effect Of Job Stress On WorkLife Balance (WLB) Of Women In IT Sector' (2020, Studies in Indian Place Names), and 'Public Resilience and Stress Management to Overcome the Crisis Situation Covid 19' (2021). She has guided Ph.D. scholars, evaluated doctoral theses across universities, served as an editorial board member and reviewer for management journals, organized and chaired national and international conferences, and presented research at an international conference in Dubai. Notable awards include the South Indian Women’s Achiever Award (2020) by SIWAA, Distinguished Women’s Achiever Award (Chennai), National Women Leadership Award (Kolkata), APJ Abdul Kalam Best Teacher Award by ISBR B-School (Bangalore), and recognition among the Top 100 Most Influential Directors of B-Schools in India.
