About K

Dr. K. V. Ramana Reddy is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT), Hyderabad, having joined the institution on December 1, 2011. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Vinayaka Mission's University in 2010, specializing in Structural Engineering, M.E. from Annamalai University in 1991, and B.Tech. from Sri Venkateswara University in 1987. With 36 years of experience in teaching, research, and industry, he previously served at Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad, receiving the Best Teacher Award in 2005, and worked in the Border Roads Organization under the Ministry of Surface Transport in 1990, where he was honored as Best Engineer for the half year by the Government of India.

His academic interests center on structural engineering, including seismic evaluation and performance-based design of regular and irregular structures, non-destructive testing for in-situ concrete strength, aerodynamic stability, flutter, buffeting, and fatigue behavior of long-span cable-stayed bridges, properties of geopolymer, pervious, and fiber-reinforced concretes, and disaster management. Dr. Reddy has published more than 30 papers, key ones including "Effect Of Fibers On Compressive Behaviour Of Geopolymer Concrete Under Repeated Loading" (Materials Science and Technology, 2022), "Performance Based Seismic Design for Regular and Irregular Structures Using E-Tabs" (International Journal of Current Engineering and Scientific Research, 2022), "Comparative study of bridge configurations for dynamic analysis" (Materials Today Proceedings, 2021), "Aeroelastic behavior of a Long span Cable stayed Bridge" (International Journal of Innovative Research in Science, Engineering & Technology, 2016), "Structural Safety and Rehabilitation of a College Building: A Case Study" (International Journal of Structural and Civil Engineering Research, 2014), and "Flutter, Buffeting and Fatigue Behaviour of Long Span Cable-Stayed Bridges" (International Journal of Mechanics of Structures and Machines, 2001). As an authorized research supervisor under JNTUH, he teaches undergraduate subjects such as Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Surveying, Concrete Technology, and Building Materials, and postgraduate courses including Finite Element Method, Advanced Structural Analysis, and Disaster Management. His excellence is evidenced by awards like Jyesta Acharya (Bharath Education Excellence Awards, 2022), Lifetime Achievement Award (Venus International Foundation, 2019), Best Teacher Award (Institute for Exploring Advances in Engineering, 2018), National Award for Best Teaching Excellence (Indus-HMTV Excellence Awards, 2013), and Best Teacher (Vasavi College of Engineering, 2005). He holds Fellow status with the Institution of Engineers (India) and life memberships in ISTE, Indian Concrete Institute, and Indian Institution of Bridge Engineers.
