Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant is the Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. He received his B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI) Kanpur in 1987, his M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 1989, and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 1997. He assumed the position of Director at IIT Roorkee on October 12, 2022. Prior to this role, Prof. Pant served at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as Petrotech Chair Professor and Federation of Indian Petroleum Industries (FIPI) Chair Professor, Chairman of GATE and JAM, Chairman of the Library, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, and Dean of Faculty. He is also Adjunct Faculty at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada and a Fellow of several academies, including the National Academy of Sciences India (NASI) and the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE).
Prof. Pant’s research focuses on heterogeneous green catalysis and reaction kinetics, artificial photosynthesis through photochemical and photoelectrochemical processes, hydrocarbon conversion processes, biomass conversion and biofuel production, CO2 conversion technologies, e-waste and plastic management, renewable fuels and chemicals production, fuel from waste biomass and waste plastic, metal recovery from electronic waste, water treatment, and residue upgradation. He has authored or edited books including Sustainable Metal Extraction from Waste Streams, Catalysis for Clean Energy and Environmental Sustainability (Volumes 1 and 2), and Advances in Carbon Capture and Utilization. Prof. Pant maintains an active publication record in peer-reviewed journals on topics in catalysis, sustainable energy, and environmental technologies.
