Karen Marina Silva Lucchini is a PhD candidate in the Animal Biology Graduate Program at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (PPGBA/UFPE). She holds a BSc in Biological Sciences and an MSc in Animal Biology from the same university, with her master's thesis completed in 2021 on tactile communication in Antillean manatees.
Her research focuses on animal behavior and ecology, particularly the behavioral ecology of marine mammals such as Franciscana dolphins and manatees, using methods including unmanned aerial systems and bioacoustics. She is affiliated with the Laboratório de Ecologia, Comportamento e Conservação at UFPE and has contributed to publications on topics including agonistic interactions between Amazonian manatees and dolphins.
