Dr Karen Wynter is a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at the School of Clinical Sciences, Monash University, where she is affiliated with the Centre for Women’s and Children’s Mental Health. She earned her PhD from the University of Cambridge and studied Psychology, Applied Statistics, and Education at Stellenbosch University in Cape Town. Her professional experience includes roles at the Key Centre for Women’s Health at the University of Melbourne and positions within Monash University’s School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and the Jean Hailes Research Unit. She also holds an honorary Senior Research Fellow appointment at Deakin University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Dr Wynter’s research centres on perinatal mental health among women and men, with a focus on modifiable risk factors for depression and anxiety symptoms and their connections to parental relationships with partners and infants.
