Kate Haydon serves as Hocken General Assistant at Uare Taoka o Hākena Hocken Collections, part of the University of Otago Library in Dunedin. The Hocken Collections function as a major research repository and exhibition space housing archives, pictures, photographs, and published materials, open to researchers and visitors Tuesday through Saturday.
Haydon completed postgraduate study in Museums and Cultural Heritage at Waipapa Taumata Rau University of Auckland, including the course MUSEUMS 702 Inside the Museum taught onsite at Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum. She authored the essay 'Visual Storytelling with Hmong Story Cloths' as coursework for this course, detailing the historical and cultural narratives embedded in Hmong textiles and published on the Auckland Museum website. Haydon is a handweaver with a particular research interest in textiles.
