Kath McGilbert serves as Senior Manager Client Services in the Division of Humanities at the University of Otago, with additional roles in the Division of Commerce/Otago Business School and Shared Services Division as noted in university documents. Her association with the University of Otago dates back to 1993, as listed in multiple editions of the University of Otago Calendar, including the 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022 volumes, where she is recognized under long-serving staff in the Division of Humanities and Division of Commerce. In departmental structures, she is identified as a Key Contact and Mrs K. McGilbert (Kath) within the Division of Humanities AAA School of Arts.
Prior to her current positions, McGilbert worked in the Botany/Zoology department in the Division of Sciences. In 2016, she received the Outstanding Administrative Support award at the Division of Sciences Awards, presented for excellence in research support, teaching, community engagement, technical, and administrative contributions. The award ceremony featured sculptures by glassblower Anne Ryan on rimu plinths crafted by the Chemistry Department workshop. Her administrative assistance has been gratefully acknowledged in several University of Otago PhD theses archived in OUR Archive, including 'The Role of Biome Shifts in Lineage Diversification' by E.E. Dale (2018) for help with forms and orders; 'Environmental controls on the physiology of the marine diatom Fragilariopsis kerguelensis' by Y. Feng (2014) for technical support and kindness; 'Interactions between bee species in relation to floral resources' for technical help and advisement; and 'stages of the native kelp Macrocystis pyrifera' by P.P. Leal (2016) for efforts facilitating an exchange program.
