Rate My Professor Kathryn MacCallum

Professor Kathryn MacCallum is Professor of Digital Education Futures and Head of the School of Leadership and Professional Practice in the Faculty of Education at the University of Canterbury. She previously held positions including Associate Professor at the University of Canterbury and roles at Massey University. Her research focuses on digital education futures, including mobile learning adoption, ICT literacy, augmented reality in education, agile and lean approaches to teaching and learning, and AI literacy in educational contexts. She leads the Scaffolded AI Literacy (SAIL) framework project and has contributed to curriculum development, short courses, and the Master of AI and Education at the university. MacCallum engages with external bodies such as the Ministry of Education and the Education Review Office on AI in education.

She is Co-Director of the Digital Education Futures Research Lab and has authored or co-authored numerous publications on topics such as factors impacting teachers’ adoption of mobile learning, the role of ICT literacy and anxiety in mobile learning adoption, teacher perspectives on mobile augmented reality, and agile concepts for teaching and learning. Her work appears in journals including the Journal of Information Technology Education: Research and Computers in Human Behavior, as well as conference proceedings and edited volumes. MacCallum holds the position of Professor of Digital Education Futures at the University of Canterbury.
