Keith Mobley, PhD, is the Program Director of the in-person Master of Arts in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program within the Counseling Department of the College of Education at Seattle University. He led the program's effort toward achieving CACREP accreditation alongside colleagues including Dr. Juquatta Brewer, Dr. Jennifer Gess, Dr. Jen Money-Brady, and Professor Dr. Manivong Ratts. Mobley earned his PhD in Counseling and Counselor Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2004. He holds professional licenses as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LMHCS) in Washington, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS) in North Carolina, Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Prior to his role at Seattle University, Mobley served as a clinician in residential, community mental health, inpatient, outpatient, and private practice settings. He was a clinical professor for 14 years at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and held the position of Clinical Professor and Clinical Training Director at Counseling@Northwestern.
Mobley's research specializations encompass process and outcomes in counselor education and supervision, cultural competencies and cultural immersion, and same-sex intimate partner violence, for which he has received external funding to support specialized training, research, and publication. He has held committee and leadership positions with the American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, National Board for Certified Counselors, and American Mental Health Counselors Association. Mobley has presented on topics including clinical supervision, queer and trans inclusion in counselor education, and feedback-informed treatment. Currently, he serves as principal investigator for the Behavioral Health Workforce Development Initiative at Seattle University, awarded $120,298 from the University of Washington through The Ballmer Group in fiscal year 2025.
