Kelly Grace Magalhães is a biologist and professora adjunta in the Department of Cell Biology at Universidade de Brasília, where she coordinates the Laboratory of Immunology and Inflammation (LIMI). She earned her undergraduate degree in biological sciences from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais between 1996 and 2000. She completed scientific training in molecular biology at the Centro de Pesquisas René Rachou – Fiocruz in 2002, followed by a master’s degree in cellular and molecular biology from Fundação Oswaldo Cruz in 2005. She received her PhD in cellular and molecular biology from the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz – Fiocruz in 2009, including a sandwich period at Harvard Medical School.
In 2009, Magalhães was awarded the Pew Latin American Fellowship in Biomedical Sciences. She conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School from 2009 to 2011. She is also affiliated with the graduate programs in Molecular Pathology and Molecular Biology at UnB. Her work centers on cellular and molecular mechanisms of inflammatory and immune responses in infectious diseases, obesity, and cancer, with particular emphasis on tumor immunology, virus immunology, and related areas. She maintains an active research profile as principal investigator at LIMI-UnB.
