Harman describes the most rewarding element of her position as collaborating with students, which resonates with the department's educational objectives. She identifies as an administrator at heart, excelling in behind-the-scenes support to promote smooth departmental functioning. The Psychology Department's collegial culture, united by a shared commitment to student success, distinguishes it in her view from other professional settings. Harman has actively contributed to sustainability efforts by chairing the Department of Psychology Green Workplace Initiative committee, working with colleagues including Tom Critchfield, Laura Finan, Margie Nauta, Hannah Deland, Karen Mark, and Sydney Auth to implement eco-friendly practices. Her personal interest in gardening has enhanced departmental spaces through the establishment and maintenance of an herb garden and other green areas. Utilizing Illinois State University employee benefits, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration to advance her administrative expertise in higher education.
