Dr. Kevin Scott Konecny serves as the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) and is an Assistant Professor of Education in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. He possesses 32 years of higher education experience gained in the United States and abroad, including positions in Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, China, Guam, and the United Kingdom. Dr. Konecny's professional focus encompasses student affairs administration, campus life management, internationalization, student success, academic support, and strategic partnerships within higher education settings.
Dr. Konecny earned his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Organizational Leadership from the University of the Potomac in 2023. Prior to his appointment at AURAK, he served as Director of Campus and Residence Life at the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development in Doha, Qatar, from July 2006 to August 2009, where he oversaw operations in Education City. At AURAK, he leads initiatives to enhance student experiences, including promoting study abroad opportunities through presentations and partnerships with global institutions. He co-facilitated the 'Fundamentals of Counseling' workshop for faculty and staff alongside Dr. Mardy Dizon, addressing active listening and ethical communication skills. Dr. Konecny has represented AURAK in establishing key collaborations, such as memoranda of understanding with Rowan University and Wayne State University to support student mobility and transfer pathways. His involvement extends to campus governance, including Faculty Senate meetings, Student Government Association minutes, and institutional research committees. He contributes to student resources like handbooks and participates in events such as town hall meetings, President's Award ceremonies, and new student orientations, delivering welcoming addresses to incoming AURAK students.
